Silver Salmon Fishing Techniques
The best methods we use for catching salmon are mooching and jigging!
Unlike trolling with downriggers where you have to wait your turn due to the restriction
of the amount of lines you can fish. When trolling for salmon, the fish expends a lot of energy chasing
the trolled lure. When we mooch or jig for salmon, our clients consistently get more hook-ups!
Nothing can compare to the excitement of hooking your own fish and
fighting a salmon that is full of energy! We use a small green sinker tied to a short red leader with a colored gamakatsu hook.
For bait we use a hoochie skirt and cut herring. We mooch or jig this fishing leader anywhere
from 10 feet to 80 feet. When you feel a “tap tap” at the end of your fishing pole,
set the hook and let the fun begin!
